TITLE: Math Teacher - Red Mesa Junior High School

 

EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Ten (10) months. Salary and work year are to be established by the board.

 

SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Certified Salary Schedule 

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITES: Under general supervision, teaches one or more classes in  the field of mathematics to students in grades 6 through 8,  assists  in  other  school  programs  as assigned, and creates a flexible program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student's ability.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Teaches knowledge and skills in mathematics to secondary students utilizing the course of study prescribed by the District approved
  2. Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt curriculum to the needs of the students with varying intellectual abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional
  3. Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school
  4. Develops lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids stressing "discovery" and laboratory learning
  5. Demonstrates mathematical concepts using models, chalkboard, over-head projector and other standard or teacher prepared instructional
  6. Designs learning activities that will relate mathematics to the physical
  7. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior required to provide an orderly and productive
  8. Instructs students in proper care and use of materials and organizes storage areas and controls use of materials to prevent loss or
  9. Evaluates each student's performance and growth in knowledge and understanding, and prepares progress
  10. Selects and requisitions instructional materials, books, etc., and maintains inventory
  11. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth
  12. Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by  which he/she will be evaluated in conformance with district
  13. Communicates with parents and school counselors and student
  14. Cooperates in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom
  15. Participates in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student act ivit ies.

 

CERTIFICATION:     Arizona Secondary Education Certification, Prefer Endorsement in Mathematics Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

 

REPORT TO: Principal

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education

 

Experience:      Highly qualified preferred and experience working with special education classes or students.

 

License: Driver License
