TITLE: Graphic Design Teacher (High School)

 

EMPLOYMENT TERM: Ten (10) months. Salary and work year are to be establish by the Board.

GENERAL STATEMENT AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Under general supervision, teaches one or more classes in a field of graphic art to students in grades 9 through 12; assists in other school programs as assigned, and creates a flexible program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student’s ability.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. The graphic design teacher will implement graphic art curriculum in grades 9-12.
  2. Able to provide instruction to students and teacher with appropriate graphic art media in those skills that enable learners to communicate ideas, images, symbols, and feeling in visual forms.
  3. Seminar brochure design, layout, typesetting, and corrections, including coordination of final printed product with the printer to ensure accuracy and overall quality.
  4. Work with students to help generate computer slides for educational and promotional needs.
  5. Design additional departmental certificated as need for newly developed programs.
  6. Instruct students to design art illustration as required for publication, audiovisual presentation, correspondence courses, books, manual, etc.
  7. In cooperation with the teacher, establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior for an elderly, productive environment.
  8. Reviews, evaluates, and makes recommendations regarding the instructional program and instructional materials to school Principal.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES:

  1. Develop miscellaneous promotional materials.
  2. Develop miscellaneous business and departmental forms, auditor name badges, and business cards.
  3. Update word processing files as needed for previously printed materials such as manuals, books, and correspondence courses.
  4. Stay abreast of current design and print technologies.
  5. Develop presentation materials including charts and graphs.
  6. Use a digital camera as needed for graphic design support.
  7. Other graphic design work, desktop publishing, or department support as requested to meet needs of the entire institute.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education: Bachelor’s degre from an accredited institution of higher education. Years of trade experience or a combination of college courses/degree and documented full-time trade experience. CTE areas: Communication, Public Relations, Marketing.

 

Certification: Must be appropriately certified with a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate in subject area. Must be highly qualified in subject area. Must have a valid AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card.

 

License: Valid Driver’s License
